They say you aren’t a Territorian until you have been here for quite a few years - if that’s the case, then more than 420 Power and Water Corporation staff are true Territorians having clocked up 5,500 years between them and that’s just at work!Mr Macrides said, “When you consider that our total workforce is just less than 750 people, an amazing 60% of staff members have worked with Power and Water for longer than five years against a national average of only two and half to three years.
“This is even more significant when you consider the often transient nature of the workforce in the Territory, how difficult our environment can be to work.”
He went on to say “ People are an organisation’s greatest asset and retaining skilled, well, trained employees is extremely important and their contribution greatly valued and appreciated”.
Across PWC, 40 people have achieved their 30 year milestone, 100 their 20 year milestone, 180 their 10 year milestone and 100 their five year milestone.
Dody Chalmers, an employee of 27 years in Alice Springs, and the first permanent part-time employee for PWC said, “It’s fantastic to see staff being recognised through these Service Awards. Over the years I’ve seen many changes in safety and looking after the environment. It’s also good to see more women entering the trade and technical sides of the business.”
Those being recognised work in diverse of areas of Power and Water Corporation(and its former entity as a utilities Authority) such as trade, technical, administration, management, engineering and scientific services.
