Power and Water Board changes

22 Mar 2007

The Power and Water Corporation has boosted its range of expertise with the confirmation of another three directors joining the Board.

Barry Chambers, Margaret Gibson and Linda Mackenzie will join chairman Neil Philip and current directors Judith King, Peter Vines and Bob Neil.

The Corporation’s Acting Managing Director Andrew Macrides also plays a key role on the Board.

The new appointments are effective as of 21 March 2007 for a period of four years.

Mr Chambers' experience consists of 38 years as a professional engineer working for local, Territory and Federal governments in the provision of infrastructure, planning, land management and environmental services.

For 13 years he held chief executive positions in large government agencies including positions as a director and chairman of various Corporations Act entities.

Mr Chambers also holds roles as the Chairman for the Alice Springs Town Camps Implementation Steering Committee, Chairman for the Joint Consultative Committees Darwin City Waterfront, NT Build Chairperson and Chairman for the Building Practitioners Board.

Mrs Gibson holds a directorship with the Australia Post board which will expire in September 2007. Mrs Gibson is a retired partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers where she was a member of the Board of Partners.

She is currently a director of Airtrain Holdings Pty Ltd, a member of the Corporate Advisory Board of Australia and New Zealand of Unisys (Australia), and a councillor and the treasurer of the RSPCA (Queensland).

Mrs Mackenzie is a member of the Darwin Port Corporation Advisory Board and has a Bachelor of Commerce with first class honours in finance and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

Although no longer with the NT Treasury, Linda was originally appointed Assistant Under Treasurer in February 2003 and previously held the positions of Senior Director Capital Financing (from 1999) and Director Capital Financing (from 1998). She has also previously worked in the Corporate Financing and Leasing Division of Macquarie Bank Limited in Sydney on structured finance transactions and was previously a Director (April 2000 - March 2002) of Darnor Pty Ltd and Gasgo Pty Ltd (subsidiary companies of the Power and Water Corporation).

“I believe these three outstanding individuals will make a great contribution to the future of Power and Water and look forward to working with them,’’ Mr Macrides said.

“They are joining the organisation at a time of significant growth and change and I am sure that their experience will enable the organisation to continue to move forward.’’
