Power and Water Development Squad kicking goals

21 April, 2008

Power and Water is proud to be the major sponsor of the AFL Central Australia (AFLCA) development squad which has achieved fantastic footy results over recent months. The 25 member squad, aged between 14 to 18 years, spent the majority of summer working hard on improving their footy skills to be ready to compete this year.

The up and coming footy stars had their debut match as the curtain raiser to the NAB AFL Challenge in February between the West Coast Eagles and Carlton, which saw them record their first win. They then went on to take out the prized possession of Division 1 grand final winners at the Easter Lightning Carnival in Alice Springs.

Following on from this, for the first time ever the team travelled to Melbourne to play against Essendon Keilor College in which they recorded their third successive win!

To top of the fantastic results, 11 members of the development squad were selected in the Territory Thunder under-18 team which headed to Melbourne last weekend to compete in a national tournament.

Our sponsorship has provided the opportunity for the team to grow and develop through proper training routines, new team jumpers and the chance to travel to Melbourne to compete against southern teams. Power and Water wishes the 11 squad members picked in the Thunder team all the very best for a successful tournament.
